I have an interest in machines acting very human-like. With that said, nothing is more human than shitting. At Ars Electronica, Wim Delvoye spoke in regards to his work Cloaca (latin for sewer) in which a series of machines involving wire, tubing, jars, bacteria, enzymes, and acid, digest food and produce artificial feces. Cloaca underwent several revisions which the article explains. One revision had Cloaca hooked up to an IT connection, in which Delvoye SMS text messaged the machine to produce diarrhea for his birthday. The article is quite comical, the artist went as far as proclaiming Cloaca as both a business (he even had lawyers and a marketing crew) and, in hopes of gaining tax exemption, a church (with the artist again as going as far as looking for a suitable site as a temple).
Truly, a shitty blog.
