There have been arguments on whether or not Apple is becoming the next Microsoft. This could be one argument for the latter. The new iPods have been engineered to not work on Linux, especially third party software that is not iTunes. Although thanks to the open source community, there is work around to this technological “cock-block” . Still, this was, as the site points out, deliberately done to keep competition at bay. Yet, limiting a users choice of OS and software is like – oh shit I can’t believe I am comparing this – limiting a woman’s right to choose (fuck). Drastic and possibly not even on level? True, but the severity of what Apple has done has limited the choice for the open source community.
