Walter Kitundu, a sound artist, creates many instruments that are deserving of true works of art. Most of his work is based on phonoharps- turntables modified and retro-fitted with strings. They’re really nice to look at, even if the functionality of some of these turntables is sacrificed. Kitundu uses all sorts of materials, from wood to steel to glass, to create cabinets for these intstruments. There’s even some that are powered by fire and wind. These creations differ from what are traditional phonoharps, which are boxed instruments with strings.
