Toshiba announced its production withdraw of its HD format, the only competition to the Blue Ray high def, the media that now has the monopoly on newly released optical media. Not that any of this matters, considering we wont be able to reasonably afford either for the next 2-3 years; its jut comforting to know how many people will be cursing the toshiba name as they sadistically burn their newly purchased HD DVD players. Those who can recall the VHS vs. Beta showoff some years earlier could have seen this coming. Hopefully.
