Haque Design + Research has recently produced one of the most interesting architecture related responsive artworks to date. Their project “Evoke” is a sound activated visualization displayed on the side of York Minister. Activated by voice, the public is able to manipulate the colors and visuals that appear on the side of the cathedral, bringing new meaning to the structures symbolic nature of the connection between heaven and earth. This mixture of new and old has brought new life to the cathedral, and is something I see happening more often, as a form of artistic recycling that uses existing historical objects to bring responsive arts to the public.
