Xbox to Deliver Community Games

Soon hobbyist game developers will be able to share their homemade titles over a premier online service, Microsoft’s Xbox Live. “Ten million people will be able to play your games,” said Microsoft’s Chris Satchell recently at a game developers conference in San Francisco. Microsoft freely distributes tools called XNA, which give any amateur developer the chance to build games for the Xbox 360 and Windows, which until now could not be shared. Considering the fact that nearly 800,000 people have downloaded XNA and more than 400 universities are using the package it seems necessary to have an outlet. Of course, Microsoft also announced that it planning a revenue sharing model for the community games that are distributed over their online service.
