We often view advanced works of people who have been working in new media for quite some time, so this is more of a random profile of someone we can think of as a peer in the learning process.
This is a video made by presumably a student of a new media arts class showing her painting machine, an electromechanical box that creates paintings based on the user’s input. There are buttons for different colors, which are siphoned in from buckets of paint via the circuit and powered through to a nozzle aimed at a hung canvas. A final button is used to rotate the motorized canvas holder to spin the applied paint.
A sidenote, “spin paintings” like this have sold for an incredible amount of money from new artists such as Damien Hurst. Your mileage may vary…
