Mike McCracken’s Audio Ping Pong

on

Mike McCracken’s Audio Ping Pong using “an arduino, headphones and an accelerometer” to retrofit pong into an audio game. The object of the game is to tilt your head along with where the “ball” sounds like it is in space, if you stray off this path, you lose the game. As the game continues, the speed of the “ball” increases making the game harder. McCracken’s exploration of the senses and showcasing how much audio impacts gaming emphasizes the importance of sound to living things. It also explorers sound deeper by exploring our ability to sense an object’s location in space just by listening. This looks like a sign of things to come and I look forward to seeing the next generation of this object.
