ARTIFACIAL: Artificial Facial Expressions

Artifacial by Arthur Elsenaar is a project that uses electricity to manipulate facial expressions. The face is controlled not by the brain, but by computers which deliver small, precise electrical currents that can make the face contort in unexpected ways. While the concept of controlling muscle contractions with electricity is not new, Artifacial uses this technology to step forward into posthumanity in the sense that the computer has partial control of the human instead of the other way around. In appearance, the person still reamains human, but this is an interesting technology that could lead to the possiblility of full body control in the future.
