Asimo, Humanoid Robot

Honda boasts their robot Asimo as “The World’s Most Advanced Humanoid Robot”. It is able to move about and perform tasks like a human. It was originally designed to assist people in everyday tasks, and is able to and navigate spaces, sidewalks, and stairs. It is also able to walk, run, dance, lift, reach, and recognize individual voices and faces. Using these humanistic abilities, Asimo is able to function much like a real human being. It is able to do this using multiple sensors around its body, along with degrees of movement, and a center of gravity, which resemble parts of a human body. People use eyesight, combined with body hair and nerves to act as sensors, joints for mobility, and the inner ear to balance. The robot is modeled after humans to mimic them.

Asimo comes from a line of robots developed by honda, with the first two legged robot, E0, built in 1986.
