This project done by Reverberant is unique not only to one form of art but three: spatial sound, computer graphics, and kinetic sculpture. The way this “thing” works is through viewer interaction. By re-sculpting and manipulating the integrated plastic object, not only does the sculpture change, but images and sound correspond with the changes in the piece to result in an extremely visual, physical, and aural experience. Through pressing down on the plastic hands, pistons move in pneumatic shafts and the back-pressure created in the shaft produces sound through four speakers and image through a monitor under a one-way mirror in the middle of the sculpture. This is a very inspiring way to incorporate different technologies with various arts to create harmony.
