I have chosen Amy Youngs as the artist I want to present in class. Amy Youngs creates biological art, interactive sculptures and digital media. Her works explore a variety of subjects. She mainly explores the “complex relationship between technology and our changing concept of nature and self”. Youngs uses electronics, kinetics, sounds, insects, plants and pixels to create her art. Her art projects have varied through many ideas that aren’t normally thought of for example, installations that amplify the sound and movements of worms, indoor ecosystems that grow edible plants, as well as videos and community projects involving public webcams. Her artworks have been exhibited nationally and internationally.
