For this next assignment, I really wanted to recreate this drawing device, Floppy Drawbot, from one of the examples on the syllabus. I would use a DC Motor the control the speed of the disc and attach some sort of arm onto the servo sensor. The servo would move the arm across the disc as it spun and create a perfect circle on the paper. Instead of using markers like in the example video, I was interested in experimenting with different mediums of drawing. Charcoal was my first choice, but it’s still up in the air. Below are sketches/concepts of how the device would function and the materials I’d need.


Why not use a floppy drive for your project? One week may be a bit too small a timeframe to build out the armature for the other setup you described.
