1) What is plausible about Jesse Schell’s future is that it does sound fun in a economical sense. It does sound possible with technology happening how it is today. Pedometers that earn you activity points on your ipod is actually up and running today. I can see a person getting points for eating certain stuff as I remember the time I got a huge discount on one smoothie for eating 7 smoothies prior to this discounted smoothie. Involving games in our television sets and radios happened and to evolve from there can slowly happen as we are getting more televisions and monitors in more places in our lives for entertainment purposes and to carry with you on walks and to school or work. To earn points to live life to the fullest as to walking to managing your day more efficiently.
How much is this implausible is that this is too much game into the future. To see digitalized game on the coka cola or on a cereal box is too much money to incorporate on such items. These items are to be thrown away when they are done even toys you get in Burger King or Mc Donald’s is not that big it really is minimal the technology they used to make the games go. I can’t see this happening anytime soon as everyday life you don’t see games happening everywhere you go, how would someone display it would go on a huge level. Or to get points to catch a certain bus at a certain time. Games can go so far.
2) Wall boards full of media is of a new technology that started in 2001 and it still is going forward. The first time this was introduced it was mind blowing. This concept allowed people to take control of the animations and incorporate their own designs into the project. To play video games that allow the people around the community able to hack on and play big size. Such a fun concept put to building size. This is an attraction that can gather tons of people to places people wouldn’t dare to stay to long. For example there is a LED building in Adelaide, South Australia and this was located on a car park area so many people came to witness such a colorful spectacle. See LED lights all over the windows showing such colorful animations within the night just worthy of a crowd. It draws attention all over.
Another good example to entertain was this one where they got so many games lit up as demos on their screen. Truly captivated to a gamer audience this was done on a housing building located in Tampere (Finland) These Tampere University of Technology students have come up with such a fun concept. Done in December 2007 on the one of the biggest building in Finland called the Mikontalo. The games enable the users to play and as the animations to see. This gives us a good view at what work those students are all about. This gives us a good chance to become a community by coming together and enjoying what is around them. A whole way of interaction and source of fun.
3) Bring the gaming factor into projects such as grand scales as this can really impact the community. There is a gaming factor as previously shown the Mikontalo concept. It really grabbed the community and if this were to scale to the sidewalks and street lights and buses this would truly be the world Jane McGonigal was talking about. Gaming concept where people come together into a world of game for a building wall concept and to captivate a audience can be her world version of gaming. In the world of games aspect we will have people motivated to interact more with their surroundings than they already do as in this example. I find this really funny a hacker goes around hacking interstate construction signs. on Wisconsin’s Stevens Point. Even though this is small scale you have to wonder if they did go hacking buildings as well or did they already or are they going to.
Proves how much the scale of hackers going into the real world and is treated like a game of hacking the real world.
Looking at these videos of wall buildings you can clearly tell it serves a purpose to that comment. Like for this one which was done on a college dorm building.
This is just one of many buildings that people have done such projects for. A game concept for their college campus to enjoy a game on a big scale as this. Gives a person meaning to come outside, to enjoy spending time with their dorm mates or whoever is there. It seems to improve the community as Jane McGonigal mentions. To bring the game world into the real world gives people a feeling of high optimism and just relaxation of trusting people all around to come together to enjoy this simple concept of a building game.
