In watching the Jesse Schell video, I thought about how some of his aspects were realistic and unrealistic. Some of the things that were plausible for the future is the live gameplay on the back of cereal boxes or live interaction with a screen and wifi of the coke can. This is great advertisement and a way to get younger kids to be more appealed to what they are doing while they are eating their food. The competitiveness to beat your friends’ score would be a key of the success too. On the other hand there is some implausible aspects the point system that adds up would be hard to start. I think older people will not be use to it and have to adjust to it. For example to this day my dad does not know how to use a computer and does not use much of technology today and myself being in the younger generation that grew up with computers, it was a much easier transition for me when technology is improving yearly. This will cause the full population to not be using the point system, and the older generation will not want a new way of living. Personally I don’t see the benefit of receiving points for brushing my teeth, if I don’t see any reward.
I think that current city screens and future ones will factor into a future where we continue to be constant contributors of 1 data. It could bring communities closer because they can advertise on awareness to people that walk by or see the animated advertisement. The screen could educate us to what we should know and if one person didn’t know what it was being advertised then the individual person would look it up in their free time or on their smartphone as they walk by. This could empower us because we could have that relation of technology and personal. In Chicago, I have seen two examples one of advertisement and the other one is of interaction. At the Millennium Park there is a building that with its window lights it showcases a pink ribbon to advertise breast cancer awareness month. The other piece I have seen was also in the park, but was visuals of peoples faces simulated on glass pillars with water coming over it. I see little kids playing in the water and adults taking pictures.
I think gaming could play into a role in much advertising because this will allow an interaction of the thing to the actual person. This will allow a person to have more of a chance to remember the actual advertisement. For example I know online gaming there are always internet advertisements that if you get this correct, you will win a prize.
