Final Project Proposal

by Carlos Cuevas

For the final project, I plan to play with LEDs because they’re so fun to manipulate. The flux/matrix code we worked on a couple weeks ago with the force sensor is kind of what inspired me to want to create this. I want to make a sort of “lamp” although I think it would really just be an interactive “sculpture.” I plan on making either a cube, pyramid, or just covering a box with perfboard and covering it in LEDs which will all light up in a controlled sequence (similar to the prototype we made on our breadboards). I just think it would look awesome and could use a little desk decoration/awesome paper weight! The code will be my biggest challenge considering I’ll be working with so many LEDs.

Materials:
– Perfboard
– LEDs
– Force Sensor
– Resistors
– Arduino

Questions:
1) Which design would be more appealing to look at (cube, pyramid, other)?
2) Should the sequence of the LEDs vary in any way, or would the individual rows lighting up in sync with each other suffice?
3) Is there such as thing as too many LEDs? I bought a bag of 1,000… (I’m definitely not using all of them, but still…)
