Casey Reas presentation of his work was really interesting to watch because he explains different tools and processes that he uses to create his work. In the beginning he shows prints that he made and as he explained them it was hard to believe the amount of planning behind each piece.
He wanted to create something organic by using something synthetic. I really like that he uses programmed codes to create an image. He utilizes his own unique algorithms to make a piece of organic an natural art. When I was looking at his work, I realized that I never would have thought that he uses multiple systems for a dynamic feel. Although his work has a very hectic and overwhelming vibe it is completely planned and organized in his own way.
In Commodro 64, the line work is basic and easy to follow but as time progresses, the lines begin to stack up and become much more complicated and the negative space begins to disappear. Watching the changes happen was somewhat mesmerizing.
He also showed some work that he took the color out of to see the structure below. When he showed that I thought it was a good way to bring back the programming idea. Even though it still looks like an organic piece. When he explains it, he uses the word structure to describe it and I thought it showed the framework and the planning behind. His work is unique and intriguing.
