Skull coaster.

The skull coaster lights up every time when you put your drink down, no matter which corner you choose.

Materials needed to create the coaster skull:

  • 5 of 2.7 ohm resistors
  • tin foil
  • electro-conductive wires
  • 5 LEDs (of any color)
  • 3V battery
  • cardboard
  • copper wire to create a skull
  • electric tape
First you will start by creating the skull itself. You need to use the copper wire for this so that your skull will lay sturdy on the flat surface.
Also, use artist tape to secure the skull on the paper. Be sure to map out your LEDs exactly where you want them, don’t forget to place them on the cardboard one by one bending the LED legs on the other side.
Here is the schematic drawing you will have to follow:

To create a circuit you have to solder the LEDs to resistors, the battery and the switches.

When soldering LEDS and resistors, be sure to safely solder the legs together so they don’t get disconnected.
When connecting wires from LEDs to the battery, attach positive legs (longer ones) to the positive side of the battery (there should be mark on the battery) and negative side (shorter LED legs) to the switches.
Once everything is securely attached, tape the circuit down with a scotch tape so it doesn’t get tanged. to create the switches, you’ll need to cut small pieces of tin foil and fold each one a couple of times (so it’s not flimsy)  and wrap them around every wire that goes from either the batter or the LEDs. You’ll want to solder another wire (again coming either from the battery or the LEDs) to the electric tape. Test your circuit by pressing on each of your switches. When you don’t want the light to turn on,   place small pieces of plastic foam on the electric tape to prevent it from touching the foil.
Once everything is working properly you can enjoy your creative coaster and use it to spice up the design in your house !!
