For this assignment the artist that I decided to research and present about is Jim Campbell. What initially gave me interest into researching his work was that he was one of the artist in one of our earlier readings. As I began to see his work I was immediately drawn into it. I was amazed to see what he could accomplish using LEDs.

Jim Campbell was born in Chicago but now he works primarily in San Francisco. Most recently the prime focus of his work revolves around using LEDs to build elegant sculptures. He has a heavy background in engineering having obtained his BS in electrical engineering and mathematics from MIT in 1978. He has won numerous awards and has been described as a leading figure in new media arts.
