I think this world Jesse Schell proposes is very plausible. It sounded like a weird foreign land that could never happen at first but with the way social media is moving I think it could really happen. It seems like apps and websites are becoming much more integrated with every day life. We check in to places on our apps and earn rewards or likes for it. His ideas aren’t too far fetched but seems more regulated by the government. I definitely think this could happen in the future because elements of his ideas are already happening in today’s society.
We will be able to give out much more information with interactive billboards much like traditional ones we have now. Again, if we imagine this new digital age is regulated by the government, I don’t think sites like theyrule would be able to broadcast their information for everyone to see. There would probably be some rules on what can be shared in very large public spaces but they will definitely be able to give out much more information in more creative ways.
I think that gaming has already been integrated into billboards and apps especially in larger cities. There are billboard where you can text in and play the game on screen and apps that let you get points for taking pictures of something or stopping somewhere. His ideas of life activities becoming games are very plausible.
