Oscar Chavez Reaction to Living Form

on

One thing I liked about the Living Form reading was the fact that it focused on the past 20 years. This helped put these ideas in a time period in which we can understand and relate to a lot of what is being said. Ive been really interested in how instillation art can be interactive with the viewers and how that creates a whole different realm of meaning. This reading gave a lot of different ways of looking at these art works because there are different aspects to think about like how much you want the viewers to participate or how you want to present it. In the piece Tiza the participation of the viewers made up the entire piece. This reminded me of my final piece because it would not work at all unless viewers are participating.
This made me really think about incorporating social change into my work because it has never been a big inspiration in the past but its an important aspect to think about. Works like Please Love Austria reminded me that art is not only meant to be viewed and admired but also to enact change.
