Miyajima is a Japanese-born sculptor and installation artist. He was originally a painter, but later took on sculpture and installation works. His artistic concepts are to “keep changing, connect with everything, and continue forever”. In his first LED counter in 1988, he had a block displayed the digits from 1 to 99 in red and/or green. The two different displays are called regions. His work aspects are highly influenced by his Buddhism religious culture background.
