Creative Switch Project and Directions

The directions to make this creative switch are as follows:

1. Gather two different colors of wire – one will be the ground, the other will be the power.  A battery, battery cap, two LEDs, and a resistor will also be needed. If using flashing LEDs, a resistor of 180 olhms will be required.

2. Carefully use the soldering iron to connect leading wires to the LEDS and the resistor.   Once you have the LEDs connected, you will need 3 pieces of tin foil.

3. Attach copper tape to the back of the 3 tin foil pieces.  Next, soder the lead wires to the tin foil. You will also  need to attach a piece of tin foil or copper tape to a truck or car in order to complete the circuit.

4. Once your circuit is soldered together, attach to a box and/or a flat surface. In this case, the use of a shoebox is being deployed.  Double sided tape is most helpful when attaching it to the sides of the box.

5. Insert the battery inside the shoebox to hide the power source and connect the battery’s cap to the battery.  If you wish to do so, attach a fun backdrop such as buildings or in this case, an aquarium for the truck to “crash” into.  To make a more challenging toy, create two different spots in which the truck can hit -only one spot has the ability to light up – thus the callenge.  This project deploys  this feature as well.

Happy crafting!
