For my interactive project I chose to stick with the theme of wearables from my first project and create an interactive shirt. My inspiration behind this project was my recent decision to become an organ donor after I’m deceased. While I know it will be a positive thing and it may end up saving another’s life, I’m still very nervous about the idea. On the shirt, I used LED sequins that I was able to sew on using conductive thread connected to the Arduino. I first started out with a normal blue shirt.
I sewed on three LED’s in the locations of where the top three donated organs would appear on someone’s body. The heart, the liver, and the pancreas are all represented on the shirt.
I then took a potentiometer and attached it to the same circuit so that it could control whether each light would be on or off.
I picture this project as something that can be used in the future to let the public subtlety know what organs you are in need of, in order to raise awareness and quite possibly help them meet someone willing to donate them their organs once they are gone.
