NMA: Week 9 Art Against Information post

I thought that the
article was interesting to read. It talked about how data and information was
used in new media arts, and how data in art was initially meaningless until an
observer gives it meaning. The works ‘The Dumpster and ‘We Feel Fine’ exemplify
this because at first, it’s just a bunch of random individual’s
feelings/thoughts. But as a collaboration, they kind of fit together. I like
Jevbratt’s work ‘1:1’ and how it was a transformation of one form of data into
another. The work and its meaning were essentially the same but just in an
abstract form. Data used in art is already shaped, and we, as the audience,
derive its meaning on a superficial and personal level.
