Twine Experience – Jason Cummings

I understood that the principle of the designed games was limited to using hyperlinks and words to create a story in the person’s head; I thought of this to be a fairly smart idea. This type of game design reminds me of a RPG (Role-Playing Game) that centers the game mostly throughout words and choices rather than action and visual experience. While the Twine games completely disregards a the visual and strategical part of a common game, this forces the player to create an image in their head to have a mindset that it is still a game, or rather, an electronic version of a book.

When I played the game Howling Dogs, this was what I felt as I progressed through the game. It was a simple game that you would relate to the casual “explore the premise” beginning of a story. Though, I was reminded of times when I would imagine a game made by myself; it is completely thought of in the mind rather than written on paper. This is the process of any game that is made; however, seeing that this game was parallel to my own thoughts amused me. It’s very creative from my standpoint.

It’s good for if you want to try a new style of game in a quiet environment (like I did this assignment just now).
