PAM on Sofa by Mark Napier
In the digital age it is very clear that human nature is able to makes its way into cyberspace. This piece was inspired by the painting of the Venus and the ideas it represents making their way into a prevalent part of the internet. The piece is comprised of several pictures of Pam Anderson, one of the most imaged women on the internet, put together to recreate a feminine figure. The most important thing about this piece is how well it demonstrates that no matter the medium our desires will always be able to manifest in some form or another. Similar to its inspiration, the Venus painting, our human desire to mate and explore desire. What I found interesting about this piece was the sheer volume of images that comprise the piece. In 2009 there was hundreds of photos that were used to create this image. In fact there were enough photos to create a sequel in the form of a jigsaw puzzle.

ASCII Unreal by Vuk Cosic
This is another digital piece that uses ASCII characters to generate images. In this piece the author creates three dimensional images out of the different characters possible to type out on a keyboard. What is most important about this piece is how it uses the unreal engine, a game engine, and uses characters to create textures for environments, images and models. The most interesting part of this piece to me, is the idea of using ASCII characters as textures. ASCII characters are something I don’t think to much about in day to day life since most of them go unused or I don’t know how to actually type them.
