Roy Lichtenstein
Roy Lichtenstein was a well renowned American Pop artist from Manhattan, New York and has really made a name for himself in the art industry. He is seen as one of the leading figures in the new art movement, in which his work defines the premise of pop artwork through parody. “M-Maybe” is a 1965 pop art painting by Lichtenstein, and is one of his romance comic-based works which I am fond of. Another artwork of his that I love is also a romance comic-based work called “Thinking of him”, which I love the emotion surrounding the piece.
Hannah Hoch
Hannah Hoch was a German artist, known for her work in collage art. One work called “Cut with the Kitchen Through the Beer-belly” is a very interesting collage work because it really does reflect her views of the political and social issues of that time. Another work that I found interesting was a collage called “Grotesque” which depicted cut out faces on legs. This work is very interesting because what may seem to be a collage with no significance, the work actually shows the precise distinction of women in the media and in reality.
