Twine Article Response

The twine games I played all were very different and as I played them I could see how personal they were. Since these games were not created by a giant company catering to  the mainstream audience, they were given more freedom in expression. They also did not have to follow a generic story and could be ambiguous or abstract. The fact that these games are not as popular as mainstream games is probably their greatest strength and helps the people who are interested in them gain a more unique interactive experience. The interactive nature of most of these games is story or passage based and you would think that this would limit your ability to be immersed because we we are so used to emersion through the visual. But I find that the fact that you cannot see what is being said allows you to use more of you own imagination to complete the story. This allows the story to not be separate from you on a screen but be directly linked to your mind.

I played several games and one game that I thought was kind of funny was its a beautiful day, which is a game about waking up which is colorful and innocent. But when I completed most of what I wanted to do in the morning the game gave me the option to go outside. I pressed on it and it told me that I can’t go outside, which I thought was kind of eery.
