Roy Lichtenstein
I have always been interested in Roy Lichtenstein pop style art. His style which can be considered appropriation places comic book characters out of context from their original media. This example above creates a feeling of anxiousness for the viewer as we ponder on what is the woman looking at within this frame. Lichtenstein uses the woman gaze to guide the viewer off the interface into the area surrounding the painting. Fantasy and reality are combined within the subject, using humor to invoke human emotion.

This juxtaposition of skin and facial features, intrigued me into examining the piece details as the white tones pops out of the dark background. The geometric motif of varying rectangles mimics program windows on a computer screen. The random facial parts are glitched together into a montage portrait of a woman.
