The article “Trouble at the Interface 2.0,” by Erkki Huhtamo had proposed that the interaction between art and spectators is something spectacular, for it gives a brand new idea for the use of art. Creating an innovative platform which can be altered or manipulated by the average human is quite incredible, for it forms a brand new level of interaction between machine and human. The use of interactive or “new-media” art has become more prevalent now, especially with increased technological advancements. I found it interesting how Huhtamo proposed, “the relationship between the user and the computer as an increasingly symbiotic affair,” both parties constantly learning and growing from one another (2). The evolution of our relationship with, for instance, computers is a great example of this so called “symbiotic affair” (2). Nowadays, we rely on computers to account for much of the information we would not be able to store solely in our brains. We therefore form a trusting relationship with the computer, knowing we can rely on it to store the valuable information we cannot remember or compute. The progressive alteration of interactive designs is changing the way we look at technology, as well as forming a new platform for future generations to build off of, in hopes of sustaining the bond between man and technology.
