One of the points that Erkki Huhtamo makes is that as technology improves, the interactive art pieces  become more commonplace.  A specific example of this is the introduction of the Internet.  With the introduction of the Internet, pieces are more widely available, but at the same time, takes away from the level of interaction that defined the category of “interactive art” before.  One of the reasons why the “interactive pieces” were considered so interactive was because of the fact that it required real time connection between the audience and the artist.  But a lot of the interactions that occur with the introduction is often one way, or very different than what the artist had entailed.  For example in the “Listening Project” audience members will often sit in silence to take in the artwork, but the way the interaction is described is not unlike that of watching a movie or a video.  In conclusion, Huhtama wants to stress the fact that while these pieces can be considered “interactive,” but at the same time do not share the level or interactivity  that pieces before the introduction of specific technology, including the Internet.
