FINAL PROJECT – Brandon
‘Cautious’ Lion-dog
My final project is a continuation of my Interactive Project where I used a small pot in the shape of a lion-dog. Previously, my project made use of the FSR which acted as a ‘tongue’ for the lion-dog. When the tongue (FSR) was touched, it would light up the LED lights within the lion-dog indicating that it was angry. Stemming from the original idea, I reused the lion-dog idea but instead of using the FSR for interactivity, I decided to use the Ultrasonic Sensor. The Ultrasonic Sensor is used as a sort of gauge for distance between a person and the lion-dog. This is how it works:
1. As a person approaches, the lion-dog will immediately become alert which activates the LED lights, showing it is cautious and watching the person.
2. If the person comes closer, the lion-dog will be on its guard and the LED lights will blink faster representing it senses danger nearby.
The original idea was focused more on playfulness. The use of the Ultrasonic Sensor adds a more realistic aspect of these mythical creatures (who are known as watchful guardians), while keeping it interactive.
