Final Project

The concept of this piece is that as the user interacts with the piece, time will move faster.

First we soldered a whole bunch of LEDs together to create a grid. Then laser cut the letters out from a piece of scrap black acrylic (shown below inside a frame).

Here’s a piece of foam board that has squares cut out of it. This was used to hold the LEDs in place and also keep the light from bleeding through to the other letters. We added a piece of parchment paper inside to diffuse the light a little bit.

Not pictured is the backside where everything is wired up. There’s an ultrasonic sensor just to the bottom left of the frame that the user can interact with.
