Exoskin by Basheer Tome and Hiroshi Ishii is a project that utilizes programmed material to create a more tactile form that can react to its environment through texture changes. This project corresponds with principle 4 and 6; engage and evolve. In connection to principle 4 the product rely on interaction to provide feedback. In terms of principle 6, this project builds on current experiences people face like driving used in the example. The interesting part what how Exoskin reacts to different action through a physical change on the steering wheel. For example, the wheel pulses when approaching a turn, and changes to better fit the hands of the driver.
Chronos XXI is an art piece by Joachim Sauter which symbolizes the god of time,Chronos. The image is contantly destroyed and created by the pace created by the swinging pendulum in front of the monitor. This piece reflect principles 1 and 3; reveal and reflect. By showing images in a constant state of destruction and creation it reveals the process of depictions of Chronos over time. The act of constant destruction and creation calls onlookers to reflect on the concept of time. I find this concept the amazing part about this piece.
A fantasy project I’ve though of takes inspiration from indoor planetariums and and the use of lights and reflective material in clothing called ” Underneath”. By theory, a set of clothing by receiving signals from for example a phone would be able to imitate the night sky at the time. Physically it would show using small lights that would switch on and off according to the image received. During the day it would also be possible to turn off the lights and reflect the surrounding area or the sky using a thin layer of patterned material over it.
This fantasy project connect to the Principal 1 reveal, and Principal 3 reflect. It connects to the first principal by bringing attention to the environment we live in and the night sky. The sky especially at night is often not seen due to light pollution or the busy lives we live. Principal 3 is shown through this project because the meaning behind it is to take a step back and just to reflect on where you are at the moment. Essentially this projects design is meant to return someone back to a simpler setting; their origins.

The second fantasy project is inspired by traveling and the concept of interactive learning called “In the steps we take in the world “. By theory, the floor and walls are pressure sensitive and react with sound and growth of digital plants the more people walk around. In the end a forest would have been created by where people tread and time to time animals would also appear by using sound. This linked to this would be a software explaining what plants you created of what animals you have come around . The software also would serve as a way to track a person through the exhibit so no same person would be able to help grow a plant at a time.
This fantasy project is connected to principle 4 engage, and principle 5 participate. This project would be an aide for active learning in a way that does not require the physical environment. Due to the nature of the project it can be for all ages whether its to learn or to appreciate the aesthetic of the forest. It requires a community to grow an environment while teaching each other along the way showing principle 5 participate.
