Interactive Project Proposal – Amelia Lozada

Student Name: Amelia Lozada Title (tentative): Music Box
Project or Assignment Summary: I will be recycling a suitcase record player that I no longer use in order to create a “music box”. On this record player there is an adjuster for speed that I thought would be fun to play with. I wanted to code a song/s onto the circuit playground that would play when they sense movement and/or play faster when you adjust the speed of the turntable. All of the components will be attached onto an old thrifted record that you load into the record player. I even wanted to play with multiple records that all play different songs. The main interaction will be with the speed adjuster.
Planning Stage:  List objectives. Assign Deadlines

(aka Checkpoints) to each of the production stages.

  1. Figure out how to code the song/research on how I can code an already existing song. Is  there a website that can do this for me?
  2. Further code work on how to modify the song code to be able to speed up or slow down with acceleration.
  3. Test out code.

The rest will be done for the final project. (Chose prototype option for final)

Resources you need but don’t yet have:

  • Thrifted records for component mounting

The rest of the materials will be what I already have on hand, in an attempt to upcycle.

Skills or Techniques you will use and / or explore. Clarify which still need to be acquired.

Mostly Coding

Define your audience. Who will be viewing (and/ or interacting with) this? (do not say ‘anyone’):

People who listen to the particular music I will be coding into the Circuit Playground. People who like music, vinyls, etc.
