Ilana Yahav is a sand animation artist.  She uses a backlit screen and sand to creative a live animation experience by sifting or drawing in the sand with her fingers in rhythm to music and lyrics that the sand art pictures also depict.  What is interesting about this art is that it is not much different than drawing, but because of the visual interaction between the artist and the work itself that the viewer has an intimate, inside look at, the focus of the art piece becomes the actual process of creating the art, instead of the final product itself.  As we watch we not only see these beautiful pieces created in front of us, but also seem that get destroyed as the artist moves on to another.  It is almost as if we are seeing her displaying her love, passion and her frustration and fickleness simply through the acts she performs with her hands.
