I thought this was interesting because it’s a more modern take on a message in a bottle. Several GPS tracked bottles (first image) were sent off to sea from the South-East coast of England, hoping to reach The Chatham Islands in the South Pacific. The bottles transmitted their latitude and longitude back to Ramsgate England every hour. The second picture shows the path of one of the bottles (red line). if the bottles were found by others before they had reached their destination, they were told to report where and when the bottle was found to the main website by the instructions included inside the bottle. After this, they were to reseal the bottle and send it back into the ocean, hoping to reach it’s final destination.
