Shapeshifters

In this project, Oren Horev hopes intends to, through changing their shape, computers and digital objects can provide the user with a clear understanding of their status, both tactilely and visually. The first object, InSync hard drive is cubed shaped, connects with the computer and reads/indicates the level of synchronization by twisting and misaligning its shape. So the less overlap between the two file structures results in more hard drive twists. The second object is related to a mouse (goes/matches with the hard drive cube). By moving the mouse or touchpad, it controls the on-screen cursor. At the same time, the surface of the mouse morphs in relation to the objects and applications being pointed at. The mouse can even show hidden qualities of an object. For example, a big or small bump represents the size of a folder or a rhythmic movement indicates the beat of music playing. Not only do these prototypes inform the user of information about the computer and things being looked at, it provides as an artistic piece of sculpture thats always changing.
