This reminds me of Dune (not the book, but book-into-movie by kick-ass director David Lynch) when Paul Atreides puts his hand in the mysterious box presented by the reverend mother. Paul then feels his flesh burn and intense pain. He removes his hand and finds it in perfect health?
The “Silent Guardian” the name given to the “pain ray” was built by U.S. Firm Raytheon and is the face of non-lethal crowd control.
According to Raytheon, pain ceases when the person is out of range of the ray or if the machine is shut off. There are no blisters or marks that are left permanently on the flesh.
This trend of non-lethal crowd control is growing in popularity with Taser gun productions doubling.
This “pain ray” by Raytheon can be attached to military jeeps and can be used on enemy insurgencies.
Let’s all start taking advice from Paul Atreides:
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
