Response to Casey Rea’s Chance

on

After watching the video all i can think is about how the guy has code that does random things and yet all i can think about is how this can be validated at all. If my family saw this my brother and father would both say that Casey Rea should be applying this technology for something “useful”. While this is a significantly more harsh response than what i would give it does bring up a good point. The technology he uses to create the mark is interesting but the importance of that mark is often seems to be glossed over. Or perhaps i often never can see the point of such marks. Perhaps the mark is meant to be ambiguous for the person to decide the meaning of. Reminds me of a rorshach test, in which you see what you want to see. Randomness is a tricky thing to introduce into a work, even trickier to have it succeed. In one work, the sheer craziness can be entertaining in another work it can be considered in cohesive and stupid. All in all, i appreciate the work that he puts into his stuff. I am also impressed with his programming skills and how he integrates it into his work, but in the end i still feel at a loss for trying to understand how randomness delves into a deeper understanding of some kind of human meaning.
