Casey Reas, a visual artist, presents us with the concept of history influencing art throughout decades. Reas introduces his audience to what he refers as order and chaos, which wraps up the concept that influence many artists till this day. Art has gone from the traditional period to a brand new concept of modern art. Reas shows us his first pieces from when he began creating art pieces from coding, then showing us the pieces he had been influenced by the concept of order and chaos. Some of the pieces I had found really interesting were Signals, which is based off of how a positive and negative protein act inside a cancer cell. Signal consists of multiple colors that create clusters into the piece such as in an organic way. Another thing Reas had mentioned was bringing an organic feel from a piece, such as he does with his pieces, for example the Tissue piece he created based on a book on neuroscience. This piece involves many small-programed pieces to react with its surroundings, and by doing that it creates many lines curving about on a plain creating a sequence of order as the piece gains more pieces it all comes together to create a whimsical piece of art. Reas brings us into the art with its organic yet synthetic feel, however Reas also has pieces which involve the viewer to interact with them. I found this video to be every interesting on how coding can present us with many different options and help us create pieces that go over and beyond traditional methods.
