Musical Stairs

In 2006, “Tuned Stairs,” (prototype shown here,) was installed within the huge staircase of the building Centre Pompidou, in Treviso Italy. Conceptually, “Tuned Stairs” was a long stairway that had xylophone tones incorporated into the steps themselves. Ascending and descending scales were then produced depending on wether someone was climbing up or down. By jumping…

Punch the !ighting

Here’s a little invention that might help relieve us from our daily stress… Punch the !ighting! The more you beat the crap out of this thing, the brighter it gets! Not only is this a stress relieving device, but also a room light. It’s a nice combination I’d say. I would love to have this…

New Kind of greenhouse

This greenhouse isn’t your normal greenhouse, instead of storing plants it tells you how much smog Los Angeles has. There is a webcam which shows the Los Angeles region. A computer causes the lights to go off based on the amount of smog in an area. I think that this is a cool way to…

Solar LEDs

Living in Chicago, Im sure we all notice that you cant see any stars at night. This is because of light pollution. Light pollution is caused by many lights in a small radius. There is a new light that instead of shooting out rays in all directions, shoots them at an angle. This would cut…

While searching for information on projection methods, I came upon the topic of this post. Someone has been working out a way to project 3d rendered images onto actual 3d objects. Listed at the bottom of the site as a possible application of this idea is the recoloration of ancient sculptures. This struck me, as…

Well the way i see it this could revolutionize theaters everywhere. think about it surround sound truly. you would be in the movie.

Little Girl Giant

Just a random post. Made by the French puppeteer company Royal De Luxe. I really enjoyed this video. The girl has ultra realistic human movements. If you like the song, the band is called Les Balayeurs Du Desert and the song is called “Decollage” (Although the video and song are not related to each other)….

mini-ear

This is somewhat disturbing. This artist decided to grow an actual ear, 1/4 of his actual ear size, from living tissue. The ear is actually somewhat a living organism itself. He will then attach the ear to his arm (I think??). This confronts societies’ cultural perceptions of life and questions the wholeness of the body……
