I thought this was a pretty cool Christmas decoration scene. Using pure data it made Christmas characters peak out and wave. It seems like every time you look at a different patch or structure, you learn something new that pure data can do. To me, it just seems pretty interesting.

Protect Protect
The exhibit “Protect, Protect” by Jenny Holzer impacted me profoundly and illustrated how an artist can make a work of art from something as simple as an email while providing a powerful message about America’s Capitalist Imperialism. The first pieces that I saw were the painted emails in the main hallway, but I did not…
Venetian Snares – Szamár Madár (music video)
A great example of video syncing with audio in the same vein as Chris Cunningham and one of my favorite music videos.
Pleo the Robot Dinosaur
Pleo was engineered by a group of scientists, biologists, programmers, animators, specialists and technologists. The design combines sensory, articulation, and neuronetics to create lifelike appearance with organic movement and adaptable behavior. It was designed by Caleb Chung, the co-creator of the Furby. It is software-upgradable, and modifications to it’s firmware is also encouraged. There will be an…
Drancing Accelerometer
This video incorporates the Nintendo Wii remotes with a program written with the help of PD to make a drum sample. It also mentions that the “drancer” is wearing a sensor suit. It’s interesting to see PD incorporated with something most of us are familiar with (the Wii). There’s more information on the drancing software…
Just thought this demo i found on youtube for pd gem was necessary to post since we have not yet gotten to incorporating pd sound with pd gem.
bitforms gallery
This is the gallery that represents Golan Levin’s work, some of which we saw in class. “bitforms gallery is devoted to emerging and established artists who embrace new media and contemporary art practice – resulting in new languages and artistic experiences.” The show is titled Unpredictable Forms of Sound and Motion. If you click on…
Advanced PD Graphics
This production caught my attention because it seemed different from the others that I had watched. Everything was in one constant stream of graphical data and it consistently changed from one field to the next.
Recursion in PD
I came across this set of recursion examples in PD and thought it would be of good help to those of you who need some help with the recursion assignment. It’s brought to us by ClaudiusMaximus, the person who’s sound & graphic videos were shown in class. Unfortunately the links to the actual PD patches…
Pd vid mix R
I found this video quite helpful as it is slow and step by step in process of how to make a video mixer in PD. The author explains everything done so well i found myself learning about the types of different boxes and what they do, not just how to create a video mixer. Overall…
BigDob Robot Army
I found this “dog” robot very interesting because it doesn’t tip over. It’s amazing how developed microcontrollers have become.
Autechre “Gantz Graf” video by Chris Cunningham
I think this far exceeds anything any of us could do in class, or even within the next few years given enough diligence, but it’s a pretty amazing example of audio and video sync. I wish I could find a higher quality video to share because the interplay between sound and video is ridiculously perfect….
