Pop out blooming rose
Materials needed:
- 2 black sheets of paper
- sheets of print paper
- 3 red LEDs
- conductive fabric tape
- 3 paper clips or tape
- colored pencils (optional)
- glue
- 3 button batteries
Step 1:
Decorating – using a sheet of printer paper draw out petals of a rose, cut and color them, then curve out the tops of the petals to add a ‘realistic’ look. Now do the same with the leaves. The line drawings of the rose background on black paper is optional – you can free hand them with a white colored pencil
Step 2:
Fold the black paper in half, this will be your base foundation. Cut out 3 holes where you want the LED to go on the black paper – remember the LED will be in the very center of the rose. Now attach/ glue down the petals how ever you want them to look.
Step 3:
Now that the rose is all set, place the LED in the center hole you made already. Open the legs of the LED and make sure the positive leg (long leg) is going down and the negative (short leg) is going up. Do that for the rest of the LEDs.
Step 4:
Grab a sheet of printer paper, fold it in half and mark the spots where the LEDS are. Cut a hole where they are and stick the legs through there too – now the LED should be sticking out of back side of the black and white paper. Mark the positive and negative by writing a ‘+’ or ‘-‘ sign next to the legs.
Step 5:
Take the conductive tape and tape each side of the negative and positive side to where they both reach the corners of the paper. Be sure to have the positive right at the corner (you’ll have to fold the corner later).
Step 6:
Place the battery with the positive side up and the negative side down on top of the negative conductive tape line. Fold down the corner where the positive side on top of the battery, then hold it down with the paper clips.
