Form+Code-Hello

Upon reading this article and getting clarification via google on what is considered software, I started to think about the software’s that I have used the most. While I would like to talk about a video game I like, I don’t play video games as often as I’d like. Since I am in an art related major I have used a lot of computer programs/apps that help me create and enhance my work. I use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, iMovie, Canva, Procreate, and now Processing (despite me not understanding how to use it to its fullest).  As of recently I have been using Procreate the most for some of my other classes. Procreate is very similar to Adobe Illustrator but I would say it’s a lot more accessible for the masses as it is a downloadable app for anyone who has a tablet. It is also much cheaper in price which is another reason it is much more accessible. The accessibility to this app is what made me change my mind about programs such as these. There is also something a little more satisfying about about putting pencil to a paper which is why I never took a liking to using these programs. But once you learn the different purposes for using apps such as these, it can actually help in other areas of your art making. I have been using it to create my images that I end up using for my printmaking practice. When I draw my images I use a stylus pen which also helps make it feel like a traditional drawing experience. Another thing I found fascinating about this app was the big community that it has online. I started to watch and subscribe to other artists who gave a lot of tips on how to use the app to your advantage. You can also download different brushes etc. to help create your images. It made me become a little more open to art making in the digital realm and how I could actually use it to my advantage in my real life physical works. Below is an example of how I use Procreate to make images for printmaking:
