Software is defined in the article as resources that allow access and process of a large quantity of information. It gave examples like how Wikipedia was made with the help of software. A second definition for “Software” in the article is also the ability to work with this information and encourage new ways of thought.
A software that changed the way I thought would be DragonFable, though to be specific– Internet Explorer, because you had to access that in order to get on the website. I didn’t have a lot of access to the internet when I was younger, so when I went over to my friend’s house she let me play this game on her computer. Later on, my cousin stayed with us for his summer vacation. He brought his laptop and opened it up to the same game. I thought to myself, “He lived so far away, how did he know about this game too?” At the moment, the world I knew consisted of what was tangible. Seeing him play the same game made me realize there is more to what lies in front of you. I should have realized that the internet was a gateway to connections worldwide when I saw my mom emailing our family back home; but I was 6, and pretty pictures interested me more than words I could hardly read.
