I was inspired by a moth plushie I own that has magnets in its wings. The magnets allow it to
open and close its wings. For my recreation I used conductive thread tied to led’s and activated with battery’s. By pressing the wings together, the led’s on the LEDs on its antennas.
Materials.
- Felt
- Conductive thread
- Needles
- Glue
- 2 Battery’s
- LEDs
- Cut out the shape for the moth and its wingspan.
- Mark where the batteries will be placed. Outside on the left for the negative, and inside the right wing for the positive.
- Using the needle, poke two holes into the ear to place the LEDs in. Have the positive face right.

- Using the conductive thread, sew the positives to the positives and the negatives to the negatives. Create a spiral big enough for the battery’s to touch.

- Attach the battery to the positive spiral.

- Add final details using felt
